The XIP Libraries primarily were developed in the Windows environment, using Visual Studio. The original developers did adopt CMake to facilitate cross platform building, making it possible to build the XIP Libraries for other environments, such as Linux or Unix environments, and the team did release such builds. However, there are some instabilities in those libraries due to the fact that the other compilers make alternate assumptions than the Visual Studio compilers. To help improve the quality and stability of the XIP Libraries, especially in non-Windows environments, the development team should utilize static code checkers, such as lint, to flag potential problem areas. The team should then review these problem areas and address as needed.
